 RESOLUTION NO. 2014.xx
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, COMMITTING TO THE  ESTABLISHMENT OF AND SUPPORT FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY GOALS FOR CITY BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES.
            WHEREAS, the City of Tempe is committed to conserving the city’s resources; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tempe has led by example through the installation of energy efficiency improvements in city buildings, facilities and energy-efficient streetlights to reduce energy use and save utility costs; and
            WHEREAS, the City of Tempe desires to adopt a goal to provide a minimum of 20% of the municipal operations energy from renewable energy sources by 2025, with a periodic evaluation for adjustment; and


WHEREAS, the City of Tempe desires to adopt a goal to reduce energy use in municipal operations 15% by 2025 from the baseline year; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tempe makes a commitment to support local, state and federal policies that promote the use of renewable energy in residential, commercial and governmental buildings; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tempe will work with education, business and environmental communities to promote renewable energy; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tempe is aware of the economic, environmental, and societal benefits of taking a lead role in the implementation of renewable energy; and
WHEREAS, the City of Tempe desires to lead by example by generating solar energy to power city facilities; and  
WHEREAS, the City of Tempe desires to streamline solar permitting for residential and commercial solar installations;  
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, as follows:
That the City Council of the City of Tempe, Arizona, hereby commits to the establishment of and support for renewable energy and energy efficiency goals for the City of Tempe.


PASSED AND ADOPTED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPE, ARIZONA, this ____ day of ___________, 2014.
